2 Months in Mexico City...

So, Michael just accepted an internship in Mexico City this past week and man, am I jealous because I won't be able to join him since I'll be finishing up my last quarter of my degree in Cincinnati! He will be leaving at the end of March and getting back home in June just in time for us to graduate from the University of Cincinnati on the 13th. This is his third and final internship for UC and his architecture degree. On another note, he will be finding out about Grad school acceptance by the time he leaves for Mexico City, so we will be keeping everyone posted! Wish him luck!

Chi-car-go (As My Dad Would Say)

Michael and I decided to go to Chicago last weekend to visit with my brother and his wife while my niece had a gymnastics meet. We had such a great weekend and I LOVED seeing Chicago for my first time ever! Could this be a future home for us???

Look at that Skyline!

Needless to say, we had a really great time!

Tornado at Target

So, for all of you who have been here in the Ohio area know about the last few windstorms we have had and for those who haven't here is a little story for you...

I decided to make a return after work to Target up in Mason about 30 minutes north of my house around 6pm on Wednesday. The news had predicted that we'd be getting some pretty heavy winds in the 60-70 MPH range, not nearly as bad as the post Hurricane Ike winds we had back in Sept that knocked out or power for 4 days, but as I walked into Target I was just about blown over from the heavy winds.

I made my way to the counter returned my item and then all @#*& broke loose. First all of the front doors of the store blew open, next this blasting alarm proceeded to go off and the ceiling tiles above the doors started falling and this lady starting yelling, "IS IT A TORNADO?!?! IS THERE A BASEMENT WE CAN RUN TO!?!?"

So, of course we all ran to the front of the store to see if there was a tornado and as soon as we did the wind stopped, the doors shut on their own and the lady and the alarm stopped screaming. Come to find out, it was just a huge gust of wind and at the same moment one of the security doors that still had an alarm on it was blasted open and that was what made the alarm go off. We all had to take some deep breaths to calm ourselves, and I was so happy I wasn't the lady that was yelling about finding shelter once we knew we were all alright.

Needless to say, the wind did cause some damage to my neigborhood, a tree around the corner fell on a car but not before pulling down all of the powerlines with it leaving me without power from exacly 8pm to 10pm making me miss American Idol... :(
Oh, how wonderful the weather is here in Cincinnati!!

All About ME! (Well, kind of)

So, being bored I decided to take a bunch of pointless quizes online to discover my inner movie star, dog, shoe, what-have-you. Some of the results are pretty funny!

You are "Pam Beesley"!
-----Artistic and caring, you are every person's dream mate, though you're too humble to realize it. Sometimes you don't give yourself enough credit, but if you keep pursuing your dreams, you'll be out of that 9-5 in no time! And we're all very glad you stopped dating people who work in warehouses.

You’re Flip-Flops!
---You are laid back and just like to relax with your friends.

You’re Southern and Proud of it!
---You are the real thing! You're as Southern as Grits, Greens, Cornbread and good old fashioned fried chicken!

You should be living in New York City!
---You are tired of having to drive an hour just to find an amazing restaurant. You are so ready to get out there and conquer the concrete jungles and climb a skyscraper. You don't want to be a farmer; you want to go find something exciting and NYC is the perfect place for you.

You’re Nicole Kidman!
---Going through the big yellow Hollywood directory, we'd be hard-pressed to find someone who flaunts a better combination of talent and beauty. Not only are you one of the best actresses of your generation, but you have the kind of clout in Tinseltown that allows you to foray into independent films without it hurting your image.

You’re a Labrador Retriever!
---Your family is what makes you tick, and you never "flea" from an opportunity to hang out with the whole gang. A family picnic complete with hot dogs, deviled eggs and a refreshing swim in the lake is hard for you to stray from. Your sparky temperament and dogged intelligence mean you are not only a blast to hang out with, but great to work with as well. Your close pals appreciate your patience and forgiveness, knowing you'd rather let sleeping dogs lie than dwell on the mishaps of the past. Your dashing good looks may one day lead to a modeling career, if only you can tame the unfortunate clumsiness that sometimes causes you to go flailing from the catwalk. Ideal Job – Doctor, Teacher, Sales Executive

Nine Things That Bug Me...

I apologize beforehand to those who I tag...

1. Having a messy house but not having the time to clean it!
2. Studying my Italian homework for hours and still not getting Passato Prossimo (Past Tense) correct!
3. Writing pointless papers for English Literature classes.
4. Not having a decent computer to use at home when Michael takes his to school.
5. Not getting to see my family as often as I want to. I wish I lived closer to my brothers and sisters.
6. Sitting down with a yummy snack to watch a favorite TV show and finding out a minute into it that it is a rerun!
7. Stupid Cincinnati drivers who don't know how to drive in the snow and freak out when it snows 3 inches.
8. Not having the money to buy that hot pair of Hudson Jeans I want... :(
9. That my husband is going to leave me for another 3 month internship while I stay here by myself in Cincinnati. But at least it will be my final quarter before I graduate!! (Have you noticed I am excited about finally graduating?!?!)

And the Winner is... Salt Lake City.

So, who knew that Salt Lake City, Utah would be voted the #1 fittest city in America? Maybe this has to do with the numerous mountains to climb, hike up and ski/snowboard down, not to mention all of the many other outdoor things to do in SLC. You should read this article by Health Magazine if you interested in seeing what the top cities are for fitness and the lowest. By the way, Miami is voted the fattest. Very, very interesting.

Free Cosmentics, Anyone?

For any girl out there interested in free, I REPEAT - FREE, cosmetics (and who isn't)listen up... Apparently, a class action lawsuit was finally determined in the favor of the American woman who has ever bought cosmetics from a department store from 1994 to 2003. That means you can be awarded your due in the form of free makeup on Tuesday, January 20th.

The legal jargoned lawsuit settlement can be found at

http://www.cosmeticssettlement.com/

and so is the list of all the free products that you can choose from. Apparently, if you walk into one of the Department stores listed on the webpage and sign a piece of paper saying you have bought cosmetics, then you will be given a free full-sized cosmetic of your choice. You will have to read the document to find out where to go and what to choose from, but apparently you can either go from counter to counter to pick up your freebies or go from store to store!! Score, right? And the fact that there are no strings attached is the best part!! So, take advantage of this once in a lifetime opportunity to get some of that high-end product for nothing. What girl wouldn't love that!?!?

Christmas in Florida

Michael and I drove 24 hours round trip to Tallahassee, Florida to visit with family for the Holidays and it was well worth the drive. We had such a great time with my brother Tim, his wife Carson and kids Mary Kendall and Parker and with Sheri, my sister from Idaho and her husband Scott, and kids Ryanne, Tanner and Nelson.

We had a great Christmas and went down to Apalachicola for a day and it made me remember just how much I miss and love the ocean, especially the Gulf. We're happy to be home but it was wonderful to see family for the holidays!
