Please Don't Kill Me... Or Suck My Blood.

Okay, I admit it. I read Twilight by Stephanie Meyer over a year ago and I hated it. (Sorry to all of my friends out there who love the book so much and especially to Dee Ann). Don't get me wrong, it was interesting at parts, and the author was very creative at times, but I felt the story it it's entirety was lacking in character development, and the like. I mean come on, a girl falls in love with a vampire and she isn't scared or worried of fearful of her neck in the least bit? Oh, and if I were told by a guy who constantly gives me the creep eye and looks like he wants to kill me that he has been in my bedroom watching me sleep at night, I would scream and run for my life.
I guess you can just chock it up to the fact that I am an English Literature major and all I ever read 9 months out of the year are Classic Novels.

But, and this is for all of you lovers of Twilight; I have to say that all of this hype about the Twilight Movie release is making me a bit excited. I guess I will decide whether or not the next 3 books in the series are worthy of my time by how much I like the Hollywood release on the 21st. And some of us can attest to the fact that sometimes Hollywood just doesn't get it right when it comes to making a feature movie premier of a well-know book. (Harry Potter, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Bridge to Terabithia, blah, blah, blah) and sometimes they get it right, (The Shawshank Redemption, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) so, for Twilight's sake and for my own, let's hope they make the movie even better than the book.

I like this post because I have not read Twilight yet and I'm very reluctant to jump on the band wagon. You're the first person that I've heard say that they didn't like the book. We're reading the Twilight series for our church book group. I'm not sure what to expect. I have very little free time to read these days. So a book has to be REALLY interesting to me for me to stick with it.

Ha ha that is funny because Scott and I both read it and did not like it very much. I agree with you 100 percent. My mom is an English teacher and my sister is too and both didn't like it. Like you they have read all the classics so the bar was set high. I will probably watch the movie because it looks entertaining.

So my lovely husband has yet to inform me that you guys have a blog!! Now I'm so going to stalk you guys!! And as far as the whole twilight thing goes, I must admit I am a fan but I do see what you mean. I just like to be entertained when I read, unlike you intellectual types :)

I'm pretty sure the movie is not going to be very good--have you seen the trailers? They are sooo painful to sit through. Anyway, I have a feeling you won't be reading the rest of the series if it depends on the movie being good. I prefer Meyer's book The Host to the vampire series. Although, she has a way of being extremely anti-climatic and it drives me nuts!

Hey Jayna, I am about the only person I know who hasn't read these books. My sister-in-law (Chris' wife) sides with you though. She LOVES classic novels (her favorite is Pride and Prejuidice) and she thinks Twilight is not very well written. So...you are not alone! In other news, I tried to call your sister yesterday (Kristi) and had the wrong number! :( I had to switch phones & several #'s didn't transfer over with my sim card. Can you give me her number? If you'd rather not publicly post it, you can e-mail me at sirmanskimberly@yahoo.com
THANKS!

Yay! We actually read the tripe for book club and noone really appreciated my raining on their parade. It was like reading a really long bad fanfic. If he smiled knowingly at her and she felt as though she couldn't breath one more time.....

Yeah! I read the books(1 and 2) I thought they were OK but not the best thing in the world. I haven't seen the movie but heard from some sources it sucked and some it was great! So I guess it all depends on your personality. ")
